Rick Sorenson

Art: The Church’s Response is written from a biblical perspective, which is a positive view. Rick explores the Hebrew and Greek words used in the Bible that touch on various art concepts. He has a wholistic view of the arts, more than just visual. It encompasses music, drama, dance, and writing. While considering the biblical perspective, he likewise, presents a historic and aesthetic view, challenging the issues Christians exhibit that warp their view of the arts and its makers.

about the author

Creativity drove Rick to learn drawing and painting at a young age, beginning in middle school and high school. He pursued art in college and attended art school in Beverly, Massachusetts. He graduated from Monserrat College of Art with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.

He teaches seminars in creativity, drawing, visual books with children, art’s spiritual nature, and setting up church art programs. Rick has taught graphic design classes, as well as photography, relief print making, painting, drawing, clay, and 3-D work. He loves to teach, encouraging his students to pursue any art form that interests them.

Rick taught art classes in a private Christian school, and also held classes for homeschooled students in junior high and high school. When he began teaching private classes to adults, he found the process often addressed hidden fears that had been suppressed since childhood. He helped many adults let go of fears that were keeping them from releasing their God-given creativity.
