Lanyap is the phonetic spelling of the Cajun word lagniappe, which means "a little something extra". It is often used to mean a small gift given a customer by a merchant at the time of a purchase, or more broadly, "something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure".
If you are alive and breathing, then the aspect of living is already underway. But are you experiencing the extra?
If your life were a book, what story would it tell? Have you found the extra that comes from finding value, joy and peace? The Author of Life desires to add to your story, so that you can enjoy the journey of living in the EXTRA!
God has given us tremendous Lanyap in the gift of the Holy Spirit. When we receive Him and learn to identify and follow His leading we live a life of overflow from this gift. We all experience painful circumstances in this life but we no longer have to function from the place of hurt and emptiness or settle for less than what God has for us.
"Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure-pressed down, shaken together, and running over." Luke 6:38 NASB
We are located in Boise, Idaho. In 2016, with the encouragement of the Lanyap Life Team, Tami formed The Lanyap Life (TLL) as a means of making available the materials and help many are seeking after. She saw this step as simply “setting the table”, or “opening up the umbrella” to provide hospitality and shade for the weary traveler on life’s journey.
Being married to her cajun husband, Lee, the word lagniappe had been incorporated into the Gaupp everyday life. As they considered a name, this word kept coming up. It means "a little something extra". The team agreed on this word after they all understood its meaning. Lee was thrilled with the idea, but had to settle on the phonetic spelling when Tami insisted it would be easier for others to remember.
Tami grew up in the midst of ministry, as the youngest of Dick and Donna Sorenson’s kids. Every memory she has includes the dynamics of loving Christ and caring for His bride. She had a front row seat to what was happening, as she witnessed the power of God move wherever they went...whether it was in a church building, a restaurant, a living room, a third story attic or someone’s kitchen. The impact of divine, anointed, life-giving fellowship, where believers gathered and God showed up has remained with her. She has a fire to see people set free and a passion to help usher them into the presence of The One who loves them.
Lanyap Life Publishing is a branch of TLL and will have resources available soon.
TLL works alongside DSM and serves as an administrative arm for The Journey To Wholeness Course.
